First National Bank (FNB) intends to embark on an expansion drive this year by adding more branches to its existing five branches.
The bank intends to open branches in Kumasi, Takoradi, Tema, and Cape Coast in a bid to reach out to as many customers as possible across the country.
This was disclosed by the Chief Financial Officer of the bank, Mr Sandile Nhleko, in an interview with the Daily Graphic on the sidelines of a donation ceremony to the Weija Leprosarium.
“We have five branches now and hope to increase it to at least eight this year,” he stated.
He said as a bank, it was still making losses because it was currently investing in lots of infrastructure works which was normal for any new bank.
“The bank is also working on building its brand in the country and we have recently hired a Head of Marketing who will be in charge of this,” he added.
Donation
The bank, as part of its Act of Random Kindness (ARK) project donated products worth GH¢7,800 to the Weija Leprosarium and a cash amount of GH¢1,200 to help the facility buy the things it needs.
Staff of the bank also took time to interact with the patients in the leprosarium to find out more about their plights.
Mr Nhleko used the occasion to urge other corporate bodies to reach out to such less privileged institutions.
“We cannot always rely on the government to provide everything. We work in these communities and we are closer to them and know their challenges so we should show random kindness to them instead of waiting on government,” he pointed out.
“We contributed money from within our outfit and after raising the money we nominated places to donate. We were looking at supporting one institution but we raised enough money to be able to reach out to two bodies and we will be naming the second institution soon,” he added.
