Fishermen in the country’s coastal zones have expressed confidence in the Management put in place to distribute and manage premix fuel.
The Fishermen in Central, Western, Greater Accra and the Volta Regions, have given high marks to the National Premix Fuel Committee chaired by Nii Lante Bannerman.
The failed New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate of Odododiodio Constituency in the 2016 election has brought significant improvement in the distribution and sale of the commodity.
The fishermen have therefore hailed His Excellency President Akufo-Addo for appointing the young banker to the position.
“Previously, by the time you hear that the premix fuel tanker has arrived, the fuel inside the tanker would have been allocated to people who are not even fishermen. We were really suffering. Our businesses were collapsing. Now, if it is one tanker that comes, the committee makes sure every canoe owner gets his share”, one fisherman told mynewsgh.com.
Another fisherman also said because he is an NPP sympathizer, he was sidelined by the old premix committee since the premix fuel was distributed along political lines. According to him, there is no more discrimination in distribution of the product.
Even with our money, we used to berth our canoes and fight in order to get some of the premix fuel to buy. The situation has changed and we are grateful to the Chairman, he said.
Another user who also praised the Chairman told mynewsgh.com that not only do they get the premix fuel frequently, but was also timely. “He and his team has brought smiles to faces of the Fishermen”, he added.
“There is complete sanity and unity prevailing among Fishermen in the fishing towns as a result of the work by the Chairman”, one stated.
