The Ministry of Aviation has organized a day’s in-house training for its staff as part of efforts to ensure that they gain in-depth knowledge on the operations of the agencies under the Ministry.
Opening the session, the sector Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah underscored the need for the training and indicated that the newly created sector is a specialized area and so there is the need for all staff to be taken through a form of orientation and training.
She explained that “The staff of the Ministry were posted from other Ministries and therefore there is the need for all of them to abreast themselves of operations, activities and the jargons in the sector”
Participants were taken through topics such as high level presentations, economic regulations, with facilitators also drawn from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
Deputy Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah on his part urged participants to take the training serious and assured that more of such training would happen in the future.
The Director General of GCAA, Simon Allotey also walked them through the workings of the International Civil Aviation Organisation(ICAO) also known as Chicago Convention.
He added that Ghana became a member soon after independence and have its headquarters in Canada.
ICAO is to ensure air transport is safe, secure and operated in a fair manner.
