Residents of Wassa Dawbo, a town in the Amenfi Central District in the Western Region have embarked on a demonstration to show their dissatisfaction against C&J Aleska, a Chinese mining company alleged to be operating without permit.
A protestor who spoke to Adom News said the mining company operates with impunity because it has cover from above, perhaps provided by the Member of Parliament (MP) and the District Chief Executive (DCE).
He indicated that the mining company has 37 excavators digging in the forest with guard dogs and armed guards serving as security.
The Bibiani District Police Commander, ACP Enoch Adu Twum Bediako told Adom News the mining company is operating with permission granted on the letterhead of the Bibiani Forestry Division.
However, the equipment of the Chinese mining company were later siezed to resolve the sentiments with the residents.
