Ghana’s smartphone network Airtel, on Friday presented the first cash prize of GH¢10,000 to a lucky subscriber in its ongoing “Wo Mmere Nie” promotion in Kumasi.
The winner, Eric Nuete Mensah, a transport agent based in Accra, is the first customer to receive the first cash prize of the weekly draws of the 90-day promotion.
Airtel recently launched Ghana’s biggest consumer recharge promotion, “Wo Mmer3 Nie”, to reward customers for their loyalty, patronage and partnership over the years.
Speaking to Ultimate Business’ Patricia Bonsu, Marketing Director at Airtel Ghana, Rosy Fynn mentioned the promotion also sought to empower its customers to live their dreams to the fullest.
“Our customers are very excited about it, the prizes are juicy and we’ve gotten very good feedback from the promotion.
All prepaid customers are eligible to be a part of the promotion and it’s really simple.
All you need to do is to recharge Ghs2.00 and above, gain points and you stand the chance of being a winner”.
Customers with the highest accumulated points at the end of every day, week and month win prizes such as talk time, data bundles and smartphones for daily winners and cash prizes of Ghs10,000 and Ghs25,000 respectively for weekly and monthly winners.
Ms Fynn added that to ensure security and check fraud with such promos, Airtel personally calls prospective winners and arrange with them on how to redeem their prizes.
“Basically Airtel will be the only one to call you to tell you that you have won in this promo.
Airtel is not going to ask you to pay anything. We are not going to tell you to send anything to any short code to redeem your prize.
So if you haven’t been actually asked to come somewhere and someone is calling you, telling you to send some money somewhere to win, that’s all fraud”, the Airtel Marketing Director cautioned.
Also the winner, Eric Nuete Mensah could not hide his excitement, stating that the “Wo Mmere Nie” Promotion by Airtel Ghana was genuine.
“Wo Mmere Nie is real, so new and existing customers should take the whole thing seriously and then they can come on board and then compete. I will be able to invest the money into the critical areas I think my business are lacking”, Mr. Mensah hinted.
