Some of the contractors who picketed at the Ministry of Finance
200 of 1000 contractors owed by Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) will receive payment, Ghanaweb gathers.
The disbursement of an initial GHc110 million received from the Ministry of Finance, based on the advice of its Board of Directors was informed after contractors working on GETFund projects picketed at the Ministry to demand monies owed them.
Managers of GETFund had blamed the Ministry for its inability to pay contractors saying, it owes them over GHc 300 million spanning a period of six months.
Some of the agrieved contractors who spoke to Ghanaweb off camera expressed frustration claiming that not only has the situation crippled their businesses; their creditors were exerting unbearable pressure on them.
Meanwhile, Stephen Baffoe, Deputy Manager of GETFund has aasured the contractors that the outfit would pay all the debt as soon as the Ministry releases the rest of the amount.
